Took an active part in organizing the palace coup on March 11, 1801. The fate of the brothers who were under the emperor Paul I in disgrace forced her to act vigorously. She arranged magnificent evenings on which conspirators could gather under a plausible pretext. A few days before March 11, she went abroad and expected the outcome of events in Berlin.
Upon learning of the death of Paul, Zherebtsova went to London. There she received from the English government the amount corresponding to two million rubles. This money should have been distributed between those who took part in the conspiracy. However, Zherebtsova chose to keep the entire amount behind him, being sure that no one would dare to demand a well -deserved reward. (WITH. M.)
