Rumyantsev Nikolay Petrovich (1754-1826)-count, statesman, diplomat. He collected a numismatic, ethnographic collection, a valuable library and a collection of manuscripts (in 1831, on their basis, a Rumyantsev Museum in St. Petersburg was created, transferred in 1861 to Moscow), united a group of historians, archivists, archaeographers („Rumyantsevsky circle"), founded „Printing Commission of State letters and contracts", financed a number of geographical and archaeographic expeditions and documentary publications.
