Orlov Grigory Grigoryevich (1734–1783)-Count (1762), Serene Prince (1772), Fieldsaim General (1765), Favorite of Catherine II. Grigory Grigoryevich Orlov – a prominent statesman and a valiant officer who committed many feats. Legends were composed of him. Giant growth, broad -shouldered, with a torso, as if cut out of stone, it was considered the strongest among Izmailovites. Orlov appeared in St. Petersburg in the spring of 1759 in the escort of the Prussian captive, Count Schverin, often and with honors accepted at court. It was there that Orlova met the future empress. He seemed to her by a revived ancient hero, immediately and for a long time fascinated the Grand Duchess.
