Until 2005, the work was considered the work of an unknown artist of the second half of the 18th century. In 2006, the restorer Alexander Minin was cleared by the signature and date: “P. J. Bђlsky 1779 “. It was assumed that the image was created for the Peterhof Church of the Sign of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

In 1933, the image “Annunciation”, “Set” received in the Armenian Church included in the inventory of the provincial fund. “The capture of the Mother of God to the sky” was listed in the same inventory without indicating the sources of receipt.
