Gagarina Anna Petrovna (1777-1805) – Princess, daughter of the Senator, Prince (since 1799) P. AT. Lopukhina. Emperor Paul I enthusiasm. In 1798, due to palace intrigues, she moved from Moscow to St. Petersburg, where she received the position of cameras of the Empress Maria Fedorovna. Without responding to the emperor, with his consent, in 1800, she married Prince P. G. Gagarin and soon after that was produced in the state.

Pavel was sincerely attached to Anna Petrovna Lopukhina (in marriage – Gagarin) and rested from her works. He openly showed his deep feeling for her: the ships were called her name (“grace” – the Russian translation of the Jewish name Anna), her name was on the banners of the guard.

Red color, beloved by Lopukhina, has become a favorite color of Paul, which means that the yard began to give him preference. To satisfy Lopukhina’s passion for dancing, the emperor often gave balls. She loved a waltz, and this dance, previously prohibited at court, thanks to her was again introduced into fashion. Since the usual court costume prevented Lopukhina from dancing, and she found him insufficiently elegant, the emperor canceled him, which very upset the empress.

The facades of the Mikhailovsky castle have a light orange color, according to legend, corresponding to the color of the gloves of the favorite of Pavel I Anna Gagarina.
