Greig Samuel Karlovich (1735–1788)-a native of Scotland, from 1764 in Russian service (captain of the 1st rank). During the Russo-Turkish War (1768–1774) he participated in the Chesmensky battle and the 1st Archipelagic Expedition (on the Mediterranean Sea) as an adviser for marine affairs of the commander in chief. At the beginning of the Russian-Swedish war of 1788–1790 he commanded the Baltic Fleet, defeating the enemy in the Golund battle. It is depicted in the uniform of the Vice Admiral of the Russian Fleet with the Orders of St. Anna (tape and star; 1774) and St. George 2nd degree (cross and star; 1774).
