Petr Petrovich (1715-1719)-the sixth of the nine children of Peter I and Ekaterina Alekseevna, nicknamed “Petenka-Shishechka”. After the renunciation of Tsarevich Alexei Petrovich, he was declared the heir to the throne. Died a baby. The basis for determining the portrait as an image of Peter Petrovich is a letter a. D. Menshikova Peter I dated 1716: “I am sending a present to you to your majesty … Person of your dearest purchase” (Kat. historical exhibition. No. 285-288). The portrait of Peter Petrovich is also indicated in the inventory of the works of L. Caravaka, however, the location of the original brush of the master himself remains unknown…

There are a number of similar portraits: GTG (l. Caravak (?), Inv. 15156; in growth, without oval frame and drapery); He (unknown artist. A copy of the first half of the XIX century from the original of the 18th century; in growth, ERG-1817); Timing (g. D. Molchanov, 1772; General copy, Zh-55). The same portrait was mounted as a desydport in the Palace of Marley in Peterhof. In 1870 in the catalog n. N. Petrov indicates four portraits of Peter Petrovich (No. 285–288), all – the works of unknown artists (Kalyazin, Komelov).
