Portrait of Anna Bezobrazova

The artist is Borovikovsky

A characteristic example of the portrait work of Vladimir Borovikovsky of the 1790s, in whose manner the signs of sentimentalism (the intimate nature of portraits, a landscape background, a delicate color scheme) and a certain share of the classic approach to the solution of the image were combined at this time.

Dates from the cover of the dress and the shape of the hairstyle depicted.

Bezobrazova Anna Sergeevna (nearer. Princess Urusov; 1746–1809) – sister of Varvara Sergeevna, spouses of the senator and the state treasurer of Baron A. And. Vasilieva, whose portraits were also written by Borovikovsky (GTG; GRM, Kat. 93). Buried in the Lazarevsky cemetery of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra in St. Petersburg.

The last owner of the portrait, about. P. Bryanchaninov, was a descendant a. And. Vasilieva.
